We are accepting applications for a Naturalist position within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Great Council State Park in Greene County.

What you will do Engage visitors and lead programming in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Interpret regional natural resources as well as the vibrant culture and history of the Shawnee people and the European settlers.
Conduct thorough and ongoing research on pertinent topics, staying informed about the latest historical findings and interpretations to develop presentations that contribute to an understanding of the region's history.
Cultivate strong relationships with the local community to foster collaboration and establish connections with relevant Tribal communities to enhance cultural understanding and promote respectful dialogue.
Serve as a key organizer for special events at Great Council, leveraging creativity and historical insight to plan engaging programs that cater to diverse audiences.
Collaborate with park staff to integrate interpretive elements into the overall guest experience to provide an immersive and educational environment.

Researches, develops, plans & conducts interpretive & recreational programs (e.

, nature walks, night hikes, & presentations for general public/special interest groups, tours) about Ohio's natural, historical & cultural heritage; conducts interpretive programs using live animals (e.

, reptiles, amphibians, insects); answers questions for public as related to interpretive programs & nature/visitor center; interprets park regulations & takes proper safety precautions to lead youths & adults on excursions into park; plans & coordinates special events (e.

, workshops, fall campouts); acts as coordinator for scout groups, schools & clubs with park projects (e.

, trail development, habitat improvement projects); teaches fishing, archery, & paddling classes (e.
