The primary purpose of a Service Dog Track Layer is to support the meticulous training of dogs in search and rescue to meet the rigorous standards required of a service dog performing that task.
This entails involvement in the goal that service dogs are proficient in performing this specific task as it relates to individuals' disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Work closely with members of the training department to support the following tasks under the guidance of training department leadership.
Utilizing positive reinforcement techniques to support the training of service dogs in search and rescue and support client success.
Example:
This role will follow the instructions of the trainer to hide in a specified location in outdoor locations such as parks and indoor locations such as stores.
The service dog will follow the scent and find the person performing this role.
The person will enthusiastically reward and play with the service dog for an extended period.
This is a physical task that is repeated throughout the day for multiple dogs.
Assist in the care and training of service dogs through a multidisciplinary approach within department.
REQUIRED ABILITIES:
Valid driver's license Clean driving record Comfort with the computer and ability to learn new skills and programs Engaging with people and ability to train and lead them Ability to work in an environment catering to dogs Physically able to perform responsibilities including lifting supplies and large breed dogs of all ages Active participation in a team work environment with good communication skills with all members of the team and departments at 4 Paws.
