Commodity Manager

Purpose:

Leads the supply base around their commodity in support of Supply Management goals and objectives. This would include; managing commodity supply strategies, leading the supplier selections and development process; negotiating long term agreements, and working as a liaison between the suppliers and MTD plants when working on continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepares and presents recommended supply strategies to the Supply Management Leadership Team. Once approved, develop and lead the implementation.
  • Conducts supplier assessments to meet the current and future needs of MTD.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation and execution of supply agreements as required. This includes but is not limited to confidentiality agreement, long-term agreements, proprietary rights agreements and exclusivity agreements.
  • Monitors commodity market trends against supplier pricing and apply knowledge within activities to drive the lowest total cost to MTD.
  • Leads and reports all supplier performance. This includes the coordination of supplier scorecards as well as establishing and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Ensures the commodity group performs all purchasing activities in accordance with current company policies and procedures.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Applications
  • High degree of creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Ability to organize and lead complicated projects that involve several disciplines

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or other related degree or equivalent experience
  • Five to ten (5-10) years professional purchasing experience

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel as needed

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
